                Yarrabah

                An Aboriginal Odyssey

                Directed by: Judi Levine
Starring: Searne Atkinson, Christopher Cavanaugh and Alfred Neal
                Release date: 2001

                Synopsis
Documentary about a group of Aboriginal teenagers visiting California from the Yarrabah Reserve in the (very deep) north of Queensland in Australia. It is the teenagers first trip outside their own country.

Living in a remote rainforest community may seem exotic to us, but for the 15 aboriginal teenagers who have grown up here the chance to leave home for the first time and come to Los Angeles is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

This film unobtrusively observes the reactions of the travelers and their hosts through an experience for which neither are emotionally prepared and chronicles the ripple of change that takes place in their lives as a result.
