The word “Time” has an infinite number of meanings. It is in every thought and conversation about every experience in our universe. It is everything and nothing. Even a vacuum has mass. Try and put your finger on time. It is not there. It is definitely the biggest and greatest nothing of all. Try and rule it out of your life and there is no life. Whatever it is, we value it above all else.


In December, 1999, a watch was sold at auction for $11.1 million. No diamonds, no bling, no batteries. Just a whole lot of bits of metal and glass joined together to tell time in 33 different ways. This incredibly expensive watch was originally completed and delivered in the year 1929. Maybe God is Time and God has a wicked sense of humor. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

This fascinating 5-part series is about humanity’s attempt to grasp time. It is a collaboration between BEN LEWIN, film-maker and horologist, and DAVA SOBELL, best-selling author of “Longitude” &“Galileo’s Daughter”.
